Rules of Procedure
The Administrative System of the University
Article 1: Al Jinan University is managed by a Board of Trustees, the Board of the University, and the Chancellor whose authorities are outlined in the following articles:
The Board of Trustees
Article 2: The Board of Trustees is the highest administrative authority in the University consisting of:
- The President of Al Jinan Association as president
- The Chancellor as vice-president
- Four members from the Al Jinan Association elected by its administration for two-year terms
- Three members elected by the President of the board every year from among the deans of the faculties
- Advisory members elected by the Al Jinan Association from distinguished persons who support the University as honorary members
Article 3: The Board elects one of its members to carry out the duties of the secretary and the Board shall meet every two months upon the request of the President, or whenever the need to do so arises, or upon a written justified request of a third of the members.
Article 4: The meetings of the Board shall be legitimate with the attendance of at least two thirds of its members and decisions shall be made according to the vote of the majority.
Article 5: The Board of Trustees shall assume the following duties and have the authority to:
- Specify the general direction of the University
- Pass and modify the rules of procedure for the University
- Pass and modify the financial regulations of the University
- Propose, establish, cancel, or combine new faculties and establish departments for these faculties where necessary after consulting with the Board of the University or upon the request of the Board
- Endorse the budget of the University, the final account statement, and the financial reports
- Accept donations, gifts, and grants
- Manage the properties of the University, supervise the actions of the Board of the University, and endorse the contracts and deals executed by the University
- Determine the Institution's legal proceedings and defend them
- Appoint the Chancellor, the Deans of Faculties, and the Director
- Endorse the plans for development with regard to buildings and equipment
Article 6: The Chancellor or the Deans of Faculties shall not use their authority when discussing or endorsing the appointment of the Chancellor or the Deans in the case where the matter concerns any of them.
