Rules of Procedure
The Chancellor
Article 11: The Chancellor shall be appointed prior to a decision made by the Board of Trustees for a period of three years renewable provided the Chancellor has practiced teaching at the tertiary level for a minimum period of ten years. The Chancellor may authorize the most experienced or the oldest dean to carry out some of the Chancellor’s duties for a specified period of time.
The Chancellor shall assume the following duties and have the authority to:
- Manage the scientific and educational affairs of the University as well as student affairs and supervise administrative and financial affairs
- Represent the University to all government and private officials, departments, and institutions
- Prepare the activities of the Board of the University, preside over its meetings and execute its decisions
- Make contracts with the academic teaching staff and other employees at the University according to the set regulations
- Suspend studies fully or partly at the University when necessary, provided the matter is presented to the Board of Trustees within three days
- Submit a detailed report to the Board of Trustees at the end of every semester outlining the actions of the Board of the University and the scientific, administrative, and financial affairs of the University
